We collect and recycle the two main types of computer flat-screen monitors, they are: the ‘flat panel monitors’ and the more modern ‘touchscreen monitors’.
Provided your old computer flat-screen monitors are held at business premises, Newtech Recycling will collect them for disposal (we do not collect from residential properties).
A computers flat-screen monitor needs to be disposed of correctly due to the toxins held within it. It is important not to throw out flat-screens with the regular trash.
We start the recycling process for both flat panel monitors and touch screen monitors via a material separation process known in the trade as demanufacturing.
The laws around disposing of PLASMA, LCD, LED & OLE screens prohibit them being thrown out with the regular garbage, a business has to have their flat-screens recycled.
We accept both flat panel monitors and touch screen monitors, which means we recycle liquid crystal displays (LCD’s), gas plasma display, light-emitting diodes (LED displays), resistive touch screens, surface wave touch screens, capacitive touch screen and just about every type of computer screen and monitor produced.
If you are unsure as to what type of flat-screen display you have please do not be concerned, Newtech Recycling manages the disposal of every type of computer screen, television and monitor using R2, State approved ecologically responsible methods. If you require assistance or have any questions regarding the recycling of computer monitors that our facility can process please call Newtech Recycling Inc: 732 564 3110.
Flat-screen computer displays and PC monitors aren’t classified as regular trash, computer monitors ready for disposal are not classified as garbage either. Broken or unwanted flat screen monitors are actually classified as solid toxic waste. Therefore, junk flat-screen computer monitors need to be collected as e-waste.
Flat-screens ready for the garbage need to be collected and delivered to a State authorized e-waste recycler. Newtech Recycling Inc. is a State authorized R2 and EPA registered e-waste recycler. We offer both collection and recycling services to all businesses in and around New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. If you’re a resident with an old computer flat-screen, we welcome you to arrange a drop-off, as we cannot collect from residential locations Please call: 732 564 3110.
A computer’s flat-screen monitor needs to be disposed of correctly due to the toxins held within it. It is important not to throw out flat-screens with the regular trash because the poisonous toxins can leak from the monitors while at landfill sites, contaminating the water reserves and soil.
Old flat-screen monitors contain potentially harmful components such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants. Unless managed correctly the recycling and disposal of flat screen monitors may involve significant risk to the health of workers and communities. To ensure this doesn’t happen Newtech’s Recycling facility has gained R2 status, State approval to recycle screens, ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 accreditation, making us one of the leaders in flat-screen disposal.
Demanufacturing flat-screen and touch screen computer monitors stars with the disassembly of the case around the display unit. Once the outer case has been removed our recycling engineers rapidly work their way through the fame, removing every single part, module, component, and wire.
We then separate the glass, metals, alloys, and plastics from each of the flat screen components, until what once was, is no more. These materials can be separated further and reclaimed by electrolysis, chemical, or heat processes. Although recycling can be more expensive than conventional mineral mining and refining techniques, the main benefits of recycling flat-screens are a zero-landfill outcome and the reduction of dependencies in foreign imports of mined materials.
All businesses, from banks to insurance companies, from pharmaceuticals, to accountants and lawyers need to recycle their flat-screen and touch screen computer monitors. In addition to businesses all residents are also encouraged to recycle their old, junk computer monitors and used flat-screen PLASMA, LCD, LED & OLE TV sets.
Most States in the USA have now banned dumping old flat screen monitors with the regular garbage or into landfill sites. The flame retardants, lead, cadmium and mercury found in e-waste is so damaging that it has to be managed responsibly. Mercury for example, is primarily utilized in the lighting mechanisms for flat-screen devices. This a highly toxic chemical can have fatal or severely damaging effects on the human central nervous system, especially during childhood.
